Summer 2002: Edmondstown Featured in Backspin Magazine

Our completely redesigned championship layout was featured in an article in the most recent edition of Backspin Magazine, "The Irish Golf Magazine with Real Bite!" (p. 85).

The article features background information on Peter McEvoy (ex-British Amateur Champion and Edmondstown Golf Course Architect) and his goals for the course as it underwent major renovation.

A brief history of Edmondstown and its amenities is also of interest, as well as a few pictures that give the reader an idea of the tranquil setting within which the club is nestled. Please take a look at your newsagent now!

Summer 2002: Course Development Completed to Schedule

May 30th, 2002, was a major milestone for Edmondstown, as the Golf Club’s "Grand Reopening" offered a chance to show off the major course renovation work completed earlier in the year. Beautiful weather only added to a very enjoyable day for members and invited guests.

The updated course layout (featuring a number of new and revised holes) garnered rave reviews from players of all handicaps. The competitors were treated to pristine tee boxes, manicured fairways, forgiving rough and true greens that provided no excuses for missed putts!

An afternoon of sunshine, despite forecasts of rain, accentuated the always grandiose views of the surrounding Dublin Mountains. Team golf was followed by a buffet dinner, drinks, and conversation for all.

The Edmondstown staff invite you to sample our new course at your leisure. Although we cannot promise the same weather mentioned above, warm hospitality, grand views and great golf are a sure bet. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Winter 2002: Course Development Update

As major course improvements are nearing completion, Edmondstown Golf Club looks forward to a superb 2002. Architects McEvoy Cooke (of Rathsallagh and Powerscourt fame) are working to schedule, and we are currently planning a June 1, 2002 launch of the new course.

As work continues, Edmondstown is happy to announce that the popular “2 for 1 in 2001” greens fees special has been extended into the first 5 months of 2002. Two visitors can play the course for €55 weekdays and €65 on the weekends, an excellent value for money, especially at a course based so close to Dublin’s city centre.

The work completed to this point has received excellent reviews. The new 10th and 11th holes have been open since last May, and regularly receive compliments for both playability and aesthetic value- taking their place as two of the strongest holes on the course. And with new tees, sand based greens for better drainage, major bunkering improvements, and a host of other renovations, Edmondstown will continue to set a high standard for golf in Dublin.
