June 2001: Course Development Update

McEvoy and Cooke have been going full steam ahead with our course renovation programme here at Edmondstown. Following the dark and wet days of winter, the work got into full swing at the first sign of Springtime!

On 17th May we were very pleased to announce the opening of our two brand new holes - the 10th and 11th. These are located on a newly acquired tract of land near our old practise ground. These holes are an exciting element of our renovated course, having a pond (complete with a family of ducks!) as a feature. Everyone who has played the holes enjoyed the challenge and can’t wait to conquer them again.

Every day that dawns brings us closer to having our championship course in play. The mounds of earth, stone and sand are being formed to make fantastic new tees and greens and the final product will soon be revealed when the warm weather spurs the grass to grow and things really begin to take shape.

Travelling to Edmondstown has never been easier with the M50 motorway passing by our southern boundary, enabling those coming from the Airport, the city or the coast to access the course in less than an hour, depending on traffic.

All our members, guests and visitors are looking forward to playing the new course as soon as possible. Their patience will be well rewarded and they can all look forward to many years of exhilarating rounds of golf at their favourite club!
